Yoga Therapy for Healthy Spine (3-Part Series)

The architecture of the human spine is what sets us apart from other mammals, in that it allows us to stand upright and walk on two feet. Not only does our spine bridge the communication between our brain, our sensory functions, our internal organs, and our motor functions, it is also considered the main passageway of subtle energies by the ancient yogis. In this workshop series, we will explore the functions of the spine from both the western and eastern physiological standpoint, yoga asanas (postures) for healthy, supple spine, and daily practices to care for the spine. The series is divided into 3 parts:

Session 1 - Lower Back, September 8

Session 2 - Upper Back, October 13

Session 3 - Neck/Shoulders, November 3rd

Come for one or all three in the series!

Yoga for Deep Spinal Release

Yoga for Deep Spinal Release

In this monthly workshop, we will explore a therapeutic yoga style that is designed to resolve your chronic hip and spinal tension. Instead of stretching and strengthening our muscles, we will support the body in specific ways to fully embody the release of the deeper spinal muscles. On a physical level, tight spinal muscles can increase loading of the spinal joints and alter their alignments. On a physiological level, they can impair communication between your nervous system and your vital, digestive, and reproductive organs, which can lead to chronic stress, anxiety, restlessness, and fatigue. Join Elaine, Certified Yoga Therapist, for a monthly gathering of rejuvenation and permission to slow down!
